Thoran is a traditional recipe in our state. We usually add the coconut to get the special taste. Rice is a main cuisine in our lunch and thoran always goes along with the rice.


Sliced, paneer, potato, mushrooms, green chili, garlic and curry leaves
Sauted mushrooms and potatoes
When the ingredients are cooked halfway add paneer
Ready to serve


  1. 2 tbsp coconut oil
  2. 1/2 tsp mustard
  3. 1/4 tsp cumin
  4. 1 spring curry leaves
  5. 3 shallots chopped
  6. 1 cup coconut
  7. 2 small green chillies
  8. 2 garlic clove chopped
  9. 1/4 tsp garam masala (all spice powder)
  10. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  11. 1/4 kg paneer thinly sliced
  12. 2 potato thinly sliced
  13. 7 button mushrooms sliced
  14. Salt to taste


  1. Heat the oil and sputter the mustard, cumin seeds, curry leaves and chopped shallot then saute a while. Reduce the flame.
  2. Add coconut, green chillies, turmeric and all spice powder then add sliced potatoes and mushrooms with a little salt. Stir it and sprinkle little water for cooking. Close with lid.
  3. When the ingredients have cooked halfway add paneer in it and saute to combine.
  4. Stir inbetween or it will burn. In About 2 to 3 minutes it will be ready to serve. This thoran has an unforgettable taste.
