During Earlier days VATTAYAPPAM was very popular in Kerala Central Travancore Christian community. We will make different variety vattayappams. Every christian homes make this in wedding ceremony, X’mas, Easter etc, this dish accompanies main cuisine. Today I am sharing BANANA VATTAYAPPAM for my blog friends.
PREPARATION : EASY
1 ripe banana chopped
1 cup fine rice flour1 cup grated coconut3 tbsp sugar1 tsp yeastSalt to taste1 tsp cardamom powder
3 tbsp rice flour
In a little warm water add one tea spoon yeast and 1 tsp sugar to mix and allow to fermentation.Mix 3 table spoon of rice powder and two cup of water and boil in a vessel to stir contineously to make like a porridge. Then keep aside for cooling.Add cardamom powder and chopped ripe banana in the rice batter. Then pour the batter into the greesed tray.After cooling add the rice powder and fermenting yeast mix into the batter. If lumps form crush it. Then add sugar in the mix and little salt. Keep aside for six to eight hoursAfter the fermentation of batter add finely blended coconut into the batter. Keep half an hour.Boil the steamer and allow it to cook fiteen minutes. Check it with a fork it qnd it will be ready if it is not sticky.
Allow to cool and cut required pieces and enjoy.
