Being low in calories, very good for diabetic patients because it controls sugar level. Useful for weight loss.

1/4 ash gourd
3/4 cup cooked dal
3/4 cup grated coconut
2 green chilli
1 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
2 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard
2 spring curry leaves
3 shallots chopped
1/4 tsp chilli powder
METHOD FOR COOKING
Cut Ash gourd thinly into one inch long pieces.
In the heavy bottom clay pot add slitted green chilli, little salt, turmeric and enough water for cooking. After cooking put the cooked dal and saute with little water.
Then finely blend coconut turmeric with cumin
and pour into the cooked ingredients stir for a while. When it comes to boil switch it off.
Pour 2 table spoon oil to heated pan then add mustard and curry leaves to sputter. Simmer the fire then add chopped shallots and chilli powder then pour it into the curry.
Try it with boiled rice and chappatis.
