Beet root are linked to various health benefits and have been used as medication since Romans starting cultivating them.

A study in nutritious journal indicates that beet root reduce blood pressure and folate the sustance found in beet root help the development of red blood cells. So beet root is very important for our blood circulation. We have to make different type of dishes from beet root. I am sharing an excellent THORAN here.


2 beet root grated

1 large onion and 2 green chilli and 1 spring curry leaves

1 cup grated coconut

1 finely chopped onion

2 green chilly chopped

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

Salt to taste

Mix all the ingredients well.

Heat two table spoon oil and add mustard for sputter. Then add two chopped shallots and curry leaves to stir a while and place the mix of beet root into the pan and keep on low fire for cooking. Close with lid. After two minutes stir it and allow to cooking till the water evaporated, remove from the fire.


I couldn’t add the water in this thoran, if you do like this you will get an original taste.
