This is a traditional dish. We always throw away cooked rice water. Unexpectedly in a T.V channel I saw this recipe,”rice water halwa “. Red rice and thick water is very good for this halwa. Today I am sharing this recipe.
Rice water is rich in nutrients. Traditional food is better than junk food. It balances health level.
Thick rice water – 2 1/2 cup
Rice flour – 1/2 cup
2 jaggery balls – thick syrup
Ghee – 3 table spoon
Cashew nuts – 2 table spoon
Salt – pinch
Cardamom powder – for flavour.
Method of cooking
Mix Rice water and rice then strain in a stainer. Place tawa on the fire and pour one table spoon ghee, add cashewnuts and fry. Fry cashew nuts and remove from the fire. Simmer the flame and pour the rice water mix into the tawa. Then stir continuosly, add jaggery syrup into the tawa and stir well, together add ghee about fifteen to twenty minutes till the mix thickens and oil is seperated.
Add cardamom powder and fried cashew nuts. Remove from the fire.
Fold the content into the greezed tray. Keep half an hour for cooling. Unfold it and cut into pieces. Tasty halwa ready.
